Thunderstorms, Outflow, and Cold Pools! | Jul 5 2015

One of the cool parts about fine enough grid spacing and packed levels near the surface is that convection, and more importantly for this region, the dry air beneath the thunderstorms, are well resolved. Take a look at the loops below of reflectivity and plot I created, which highlights changes in wind direction and strength (picks out boundaries). Pretty neat to see the outflow shoot out and merge into a combined cold pool, huh?
